Spooky Halloween Fun
Be afraid…Be very afraid🎃
Four activity packed days of fun and friendship at the LIF Halloween half term youth camp.
JP from Boxing Saves Lives confronted the forces of darkness – many of them in fancy dress, as an array of vampires, spooky cheerleaders and ghouls too terrible to mention learnt boxing skills and fitness.
LIF Comms & Heritage Officer Elleesa gave a short presentation on the Irish origins of Samhain, the Irish word for Halloween. The young audience were surprised to learn that before pumpkins, swedes (turnips) were used to make the popular lanterns and they discovered how emigration to the USA grew the Samhain festival to the Halloween that we know today.
There were games, facepainting and a spooky disco to round off an epic week.
At LIF we believe that all children should join in the fun, regardless of income. We offer low cost places @£10 per day, which includes lunch and treats. For those on free school meals, places, meals and treats are free.
Thank you to LIF Youth Team, staff and volunteers who made this so memorable.
