PAINT THE TOWN GREEN
We wanted to tell the story of the Irish community in Luton…and how better to do that than through the history of the Luton St Patrick’s Festival.
We commissioned director William Walsh to make a lasting record, documenting memories, people and the craic!
And…our junior stars from St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School stole the show with their novel re-telling of the St Patrick’s legend.
Paint the Town Green was premiered at Luton Town Hall in the presence of Ambassador Adrian O’Neill and there was a further showing at the University of Bedfordshire.
We were able to make this film though a grant from the Lottery Heritage Fund and this funding gave us the opportunity to celebrate the impact of the Irish community in Luton.
Want to watch Paint the Town Green? Grab a cuppa or maybe something stronger and settle down for a great time, with some nostalgia and also some more recent St Patrick’s coverage. The film was made in 2022 and features our first St Patrick’s Parade after the Covid pandemic.
We came back…stronger than EVER!
