Gypsy, Roma & Traveller Conference

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, shared their experiences, performed, spoke on panels, hosted marketplace stalls and helped make the event such a success.

The conference brought together community members, young people, statutory partners, local leaders and organisations to celebrate culture, amplify community voices and strengthen partnerships. From powerful lived-experience discussions and inspiring cultural performances to thought-provoking conversations about health, wellbeing and education, the day showcased the strength, resilience and richness of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities.

A special highlight was seeing young people confidently sharing their experiences and ideas for the future, reminding us why community-led change matters.

Thank you to all our speakers, volunteers, performers, partners and supporters for helping create such a welcoming, positive and impactful event.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Family Hub for allowing us to take over their space and create a vibrant Community Marketplace, helping attendees connect with a wide range of services, organisations and opportunities. We are also incredibly grateful to the team at Luton Library Theatre for their support, professionalism and hard work in ensuring the event ran so smoothly from start to finish.

Finally, thank you to our funders and supporters Lloyds Bank Foundation for England & Wales, Luton Council, and Next Generation Youth Theatre (NGYT) for helping make this important community-led event possible.

Together, we demonstrated what can be achieved when communities are listened to, respected and placed at the heart of decision-making. We look forward to building on the energy, connections and conversations from the day to create lasting positive change for Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities.
