Luton Irish Forum take part in the 31st International Carnival which is estimated to have attracted over 150,000 people. 70 different groups took part with some 2,000 people taking part in the procession.
Luton's newly elected mayor Cllr. Julian Wates was undertaking his first public duty by greeting the procession in the rain. Being of Irish heritage, he had to greet the Forums float and shake the hand of Tony Murphy.
