Annual Report - August 2006 - March 2007

Business Planning

After 7 months, The Forum will have completed its business planning programme.  The outcome is a 3 year business plan [2007/ 10], which reflects the views of trustees, volunteers, staff, funders, networks, and the members of the Luton Irish Forum.  Elements of the programme were funded by The Development Trust Alliance.

Stage 1 – Research (October)

Trip to Leeds Irish Health and Homes to look at their development and structure (to look at possible areas for development)
Researching other local agencies providing similar services to other communities and other Irish organisations in the area providing welfare and cultural services.

Stage 2 – Reflection (November)

Away day for staff and trustees, facilitated by an external consultant (to review current services, roles of staff and trustees and discuss potential for development)

  Stage 3 – Consultation (February/ March)

Consultation day with group discussions for local agencies working directly or indirectly with the Irish community (to learn more about current services and advise on future development)
Questionnaire for agencies who could not attend, and members of the Irish community (to evaluate current services and suggestions for priorities for future development)

Stage 4 – Prioritising (April)

Business Planning Day for trustees (to review findings of the consultation and to set priorities)


Stage 5 – Drafting (May)

Business plan drafted and verified by trustees
